Granting HubSpot Access the Right Way
How to give us the access we need to build, without handing over the keys to everything.
To build your system, we need access to your HubSpot, but access should always be granted the right way: through proper user permissions, never by sharing a login. This article explains how to give us what we need to work efficiently while keeping you firmly in control.
Add us as users, don't share a password
The correct way to grant access is to add us as users in your HubSpot account, each with our own login. This is safer and cleaner than sharing credentials for every reason that matters: you can see exactly who did what, you can set precise permission levels, and you can remove access instantly when the work is done, all without changing a single password or disrupting your team.
The right permission level
We ask for the access we actually need to do the work, and no more. For most builds, that means permissions to configure the areas we're working in, CRM setup, automation, data, and reporting, along with the ability to see how things are currently set up. If your engagement is narrower, the access can be narrower too. If you're ever unsure what level to grant, ask us; we'll tell you the minimum that lets us do the job.
Super admin, and when it's warranted
Some builds, especially ones that touch account-wide settings, integrations, or security configuration, genuinely need elevated (super admin) access to be done properly. When that's the case, we'll explain specifically why, so it's an informed decision rather than a blanket request. When it's not necessary, we won't ask for it.
You stay in control
Because we're added as named users, you retain complete control. You can review our access at any time, adjust it, or revoke it entirely, and nothing about your team's own access changes. When the engagement ends, removing us is a single action.
How to grant it
Access is managed by an admin on your side in your account's user settings, where you'll add each of us by email and set the appropriate permissions. We'll tell you exactly which email addresses to add and what level to set. If your admin would rather do it together on a quick call, we're happy to walk through it live so it's right the first time.
