How do I remove a user who has left the company?
Offboarding someone without losing their work.
An admin removes or deactivates the user in HubSpot's user settings — but before you do, reassign their records first so nothing is orphaned. Contacts, deals, tasks, and tickets they owned should move to someone else so work doesn't fall through the cracks or vanish from everyone's view.
A good order of operations:
- Reassign or bulk-update ownership of their contacts, companies, deals, and open tasks.
- Check whether they own any active workflows, forms, or scheduled items that need a new owner.
- Then remove or deactivate the user.
Removing access promptly also matters for security — don't leave former employees with live logins. If you want help reassigning records cleanly, or you're not sure what they owned, reach out to your BrightReach contact.
