My marketing emails are going to spam

Why your email lands in junk, and how to fix it.

Emails landing in spam is one of the most common — and most fixable — email problems. There are a few usual culprits.

Domain authentication. This is the big one. Your sending domain needs to be properly authenticated (the behind-the-scenes records that tell inboxes your mail is really from you) for email to land reliably. If this was never fully set up, or something changed with your domain, deliverability suffers. It lives in your DNS and is exactly the kind of thing we can check for you.

List quality. Sending to old, purchased, or unengaged lists trains spam filters to distrust you. Sending mainly to people who actually want your email protects your reputation.

Content and sending habits. Spammy subject lines, too many links or images, and sudden spikes in volume can all trip filters.

If your authentication is in place and your lists are clean but mail still goes to spam — or you're not sure whether your domain is properly authenticated — reach out to the Help Desk. Deliverability is often a domain-setup issue we can diagnose quickly. (See also: connecting your email and domains, in Getting Started.)
