My report numbers don't look right

When the numbers don't add up.

When a report's numbers seem off, the data is usually fine — the report is just answering a slightly different question than you think. Check these before assuming something's broken.

Filters and date range. The number one cause. An unexpected number is very often filtered to a specific date range, owner, pipeline, or status. Widen or clear the filters and see if it makes sense.

What's actually being counted. Make sure the report counts what you think — deals created vs. deals closed, or contacts vs. companies, are very different numbers. A small difference in definition changes everything.

Data hygiene. If records are missing owners, dates, or key fields — or there are duplicates — reports built on them look wrong. The report is faithfully reflecting messy data, which is why data hygiene matters so much.

Your visibility. If your access only shows you certain records, your totals will be lower than someone who can see everything.

If the filters are right, the definitions are right, and the numbers still don't reconcile, reach out to the Help Desk — we built your reporting and can quickly tell you whether it's a setup issue or a data issue.
